Yelp Elite Wine Tasting

I love being Yelp Elite because of the FREE events they sponsor.

The latest event was a classy affair at the newly opened Malibu and Vine Bar & Grille located at the Malibu Golf Club. The outdoor wine bar overlooks the golf course and the beautiful mountain range. It was quite a trek getting there! Freaking Google maps told us to take PCH when we should have taken the 101 all the way to Thousand Oaks. Well, at least the drive was nice.

As soon as we got there we went straight for the food and wine. We sampled locally grown Semler and Saddlerock wines and small bites from the Bar & Grille. My favorite was the grilled cheese with heirloom tomatoes! In addition to the food and wine, we tried Vita Coco‘s new flavors and satisfied our sweet tooth with cupcakes and ice cream sandwiches from Cookies N Cream.

The best surprise at the event was getting a free ticket to watch Iris by Cirque du Soleil at the Kodak Theatre! We got to preview the show before the official premiere. It was so entertaining! They used dance, acrobatics, live video and more to show the history of cinema.

Orchestra seats baby!

Photography wasn’t allowed so I quickly took a picture of the stage with my phone before the show started.

Quintessential Summer Day

The official astronomical end date of summer was September 22 but it still feels like summer in Southern California. My coworker, who just moved from Washington, said, “It’s weird that it’s still sunny and warm here. I’m not used to it. It should be foggy and cold this time of year.” I replied, “Welcome to LA. Sometimes it’s still warm in October.” She said “I can’t imagine!”

What can I say? We’re spoiled.

So, to celebrate the end of another great summer in LA I’ll share about one of my favorite days this season.

Joanne and I went to the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival and saw the last performance of Love Labour’s Lost. The show was surprisingly very funny and more PG-13 than family-friendly but I don’t think the kids understood what was going on.  I loved every minute of it!

We spread out our blanket and enjoyed a little picnic before the show started.

I loved the costumes

Bravo! I’ll be back next season.

After the play we joined my friends at Perch, Downtown LA’s newest rooftop bar. I heard their cocktails were subpar so I just ordered the usual, Jameson on the rocks. I loved the space! Beautiful view of the city and great ambiance. LA needs more rooftop bars. Why don’t we have more rooftop bars? We have the perfect, almost year-round, weather for anything outdoors.

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall~!! I used to HATE cold weather but now I’m appreciating it more and more. Maybe it’s because I love wearing boots and scarves. Or because I’m getting old?

The Perfect Cup by Skinny Cow

An event featuring the perfectly fitted bra and the perfect size cup of yummy ice cream.

My personal fitter suggested a Warner’s wireless bra that had a little bit of lift. I loved it! Can’t wait for my coupon to come in the mail so I can get a free pair!

They had 5 flavors to choose from and each one was so good but my favorite was Strawberry Cheesecake.

We enjoyed Beringer White Mosacto and Skinny Cock(tails)

My bestie and I

I met up with the lovely ladies of a Meetup group called Under the Hill

Jenny is the leader of our pack

Mary won one of the raffles which was a free makeover and it turned out really well!

Silly Conversations with Dad

I know where my humor comes from.

Early this evening I walked past the TV and there was a female Kpop group on a show performing live (something like this) and my dad asked me, “Why don’t you try dancing like those girls?” I replied, “No.” and kept walking. He said, “Why? I think you can. Just try right now.” I replied, “You do it first and then I’ll try.”

My dad is so silly.

Fantasy Football

I don’t watch football. I don’t know anything about it. And I don’t even know all the teams. Yet, I joined a fantasy league. Let’s see how this goes.

Another time sucker added to my life but at least I’ll be learning something new. Maybe I’ll fall in love with football.

I let the computer pick my team and I won Best Draft! Holler! I’m off to a great start!
